I am delighted to let you know that I’ve been asked to be one of the experts at the 2006 Career Coaches Telesummit taking place on September 18th – 22nd. The telesummit is hosted by the IACC, the International Association of Career Coaches.
What many people do not know is that I began my own career as a career counselor waaaaay back in 1989. In fact, for my graduate degree, I specialized in career development. That was before coaching was widely known as it is today. A colleague and I first read about coaching in 1990. We incorporated what we learned about coaching when we developed a program for an oil company in Calgary, Alberta. We identified and implemented coaching as one of the skills that managers use in employee development. Little did we know then just how ahead of our time we really were.
When Marcia Bench (the founder of the IACC) called and asked if I would join her panel of experts to talk about the Tips & Traps of Coaching within a Corporation, I gladly obliged.
