HeartsI have a gift for you.  Is it chocolate?  No, but it is something pretty tasty.

For the past several months I have been working on the development of a new business to help people learn leadership skills.  While it was initially designed for the owners of small businesses with up to 100 employees, I recently came to the realization that it’s very helpful for the owners of microbusinesses, too.

The site will be launching later this week, and since today is Valentine’s Day, what better reason for a gift?  Go to www.LeadershipToolkits.com  to receive the Coaching and Mentoring Toolkit.  The full retail price on the toolkit is $149 and right now  it’s totally free.

This special page & offer will be up for only a very short while, so visit  www.LeadershipToolkits.com right away.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Snow in Arizona? Yes!

Comments Off on Snow in Arizona? Yes!

Last night I was reminded of Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” and the impact of Global Warming.

Or rather, maybe should I say, “Welcome to the Next Ice Age.”   There’s no doubt that this has been a strange winter and it’s one that many people around the world will not forget.  Last week the temperature dipped below freezing and there was a lot of damage to plants.  We’ll have to wait until the spring to learn if any of the Bougainvillea survived.

And now, here in Arizona, we can brag about the white winter wonderland of 2007.  Yes, on Sunday night (Jan 21st) it actually snowed in Phoenix.  These photos look more like this winter’s mess in the Puget Sound, than in Arizona.

Scraping When I was on coaching calls today I mentioned to several people that it snowed last night.  “What?!?” was the typical response.  So I thought that I’d share a slide show I found online through one of the local news stations.

Here’s the link http://snipurl.com/AZsnow

Brrrr, makes me cold just thinking about last night.   With weather like this I’m glad that I “meet” with most of my clients over the phone and don’t have to venture out on the freeways.

What’s the winter like in your part of the world?

Syl

ps in the next day or so I’ll post the names of the  winners of the Best Year Yet book.

Let’s make 2007 our Best Year Yet!  How?  By setting great goals and then tracking them. Each year I invite my own clients to go through a special program called Best Year Yet.  If you remember me as the Founder/President of Client Compass Software, then you were invited to my New Year’s Goal Setting e-Parties I had in January of each year.

Happy New Year! Did You Make Any Resolutions?

Hope everyone is having a great day.

It’s wonderful to be looking out onto the desert, seeing the sun and watching the birds.   There are about 2 dozen quail, a bunch of doves, sparrows, a chipmunk and even a cardinal!

Until we moved to Arizona, I’d never seen a cardinal.  Cardinal_2 Pardon the poor quality of the picture. The shot was taken with our digital camera, zoomed in as close as possible and through a screen.  Even so, I’m amazed at the vibrant red of the bird.

Since it’s January 1st, I suspect many people are thinking about their New Year’s Resolutions. How do I know?  Because lots of registrations for my free 2007 Best Year Yet goal-setting workshop are coming in.  Anyone who registers for the workshop will receive an invitation to the teleclass I am offering.  If you haven’t already registered, then read the December 21st posting.   I’ll be sending the dial in information in the next few days.

Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? Complete the poll and let me know New Year’s Resolutions

I’ll post the results in a couple of weeks (after the good intentions start wearing off).

Cheers!

Turn "To Do" into "Ta Da"

I’ve decided to start a new tradition at www.WindowSyl.com, called Free Friday Cool Tools.

You see, I love to find cool tools that help me run my business move efficiently.  As the owner of Client Compass Software, each month I’d publish information about the cool tools I’d uncovered.  After my company was bought out by Wiley & Sons last summer, I had no place to share my finds.

There are lots of tools that I use in my business and want to let others know about them as well.

Hence, Free Friday Cool Tools.   My goal is to share a new tool each week.  Most of them will be free or very low cost.  If you’ve read previous posts you’ll see that Ialready written about some of them.  So, if you want to get on the automatic list, bookmark this page.  For the automatic updates you can either subscribe via the e-mail updates (top of this page – right side) or use an RSS feed.

Here’s the first Free Friday Cool Tool:  how to turn your "todo" lists into TaDa (you’re done!) Lists …

TaDa List is a free service.  It allows you to create multiple todo lists, add to them, reorder, prioritize, and even share your list with others.

TaDa is pretty remarkable.  I’m using it right now to create a pretty hefty list of what we need to do in our new home. I’m also using it for the launch of my new online learning business (more on that later).

I was wondering how TaDa could possibly be free when it’s so valuable.  It’s used as an intro service by BackPack and BaseCamp, their project management software.  I’m using BaseCamp for the development of my new website.

Get started with your own subscription at http://www.tadalist.com

Cheers!

Join me at the first annual Career Coaches Telesummit

Comments Off on Join me at the first annual Career Coaches Telesummit

I am delighted to let you know that I’ve been asked to be one of the experts at the 2006 Career Coaches Telesummit taking place on September 18th – 22nd. The telesummit is hosted by the IACC, the International Association of Career Coaches. Telesummit150

What many people do not know is that I began my own career as a career counselor waaaaay back in 1989.   In fact, for my graduate degree, I specialized in career development.  That was before coaching was widely known as it is today.  A colleague and I first read about coaching in 1990.  We incorporated what we learned about coaching when we developed a program for an oil company in Calgary, Alberta.  We identified and implemented coaching as one of the skills that managers use in employee development.  Little did we know then just how ahead of our time we really were.

When Marcia Bench (the founder of the IACC) called and asked if I would join her panel of experts to talk about the Tips & Traps of Coaching within a Corporation, I gladly obliged.

If you are interested in learning more about the event, just click on the picture.  Or visit, http://www.iaccweb.org/telesummit-highlights.html
